About This Test

This test is based on attachment theory, one of the most well established frameworks in relationship psychology, originally developed to describe how infants bond with caregivers and later extended to explain how adults bond with partners, friends, and family.

Knowing your attachment style matters because it quietly shapes almost every close relationship you will ever have, how you handle distance, conflict, reassurance, and trust, often in ways you have never consciously examined. Secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized are not personality flaws, they are patterns your nervous system learned, usually early, and patterns that can shift with awareness.

This is one of the most practically useful tests on this site. Understanding your own attachment pattern, and recognizing it in the people you love, tends to defuse more arguments than almost any other single piece of self-knowledge.
